Every other day, I will use “The toothbrush method”. I cleanse my skin thoroughly and gently and then I moisturize. I will then pump a little bit of soap onto a toothbrush and gently exfoliate my skin. I focus on specific areas on certain days so that I do not over irritate my skin.
I’ve heard that exfoliating helps to restore new skin cells. After i’m done I will clean the soap off and moisturize. I’ve been doing this for a while now (2 months) and there is only slight fading of the scars.
I want to seek a more efficient method because I absolutely hate wearing makeup to make the scars look less noticeable. The weather is cool right now, so I don’t mind too much. But when the weather starts to heat up I do not want to be wearing thick layers of concealer and foundation. I do not want to be wearing makeup in general. I am hoping to find a way to clear up the scarring before the heat hits.
Once I have clear skin, I will definitely cherish it. If you have minor scarring the toothbrush method will for sure work well for you. If you have mild scarring, like me then this will somewhat work, but you will definitely want to seek a better long term method. I also only do this during the night. Typically before bed.
I do this because when you are sleeping, your skin repairs itself. I would advise to not do this during the day, because if you plan on wearing makeup your pores are exposed so you are basically cleaning them and scrubbing your face, and then filling them back up with dirt. Also, during the day, your face does not repair itself as much as it would while you are sleeping.
