Making it Through Family Gatherings With Acne

Christmas and New Year was a low-point for me. Whilst your parents look forward to meeting up with friends, meeting new people is the last thing you want to do right now. Anxiety takes a grip on you and you spend the whole time praying that nobody will draw attention to your skin or make any comment.

When you meet that distant aunt and uncle and they generically say; “Haven’t you grown!” - meanwhile all you can do is painfully stand there whilst, your mum, dad, sister, nephew, niece, aunt, grandmother, grandfather and their dog ‘Benji’, all stand in the hallway in awe of your height – waiting for someone to point out your acne.

It's best to avoid them or just try to ignore it if any skin comments do come up.
