How Sun can Make Scars Worse

I used to be on the track team at my high school and that means that I have had a lot of sun exposure. Running laps around the track for hours upon hours everyday really takes a toll on your skin. Really, the only time I ever put sunscreen on was when we went to all-day track meets. The sun is the enemy, the arch-nemesis of skin. I made the huge mistake of rarely putting on sunscreen. The sun significantly ages your skin, dries it out, causing wrinkles and sun spots. It also makes you more susceptible to developing acne scars. The bottom line is that the sun weakens your skin.

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer. There's a reason why. In America, most people are not concerned about the sun's hazardous UV rays. In fact, they even welcome it by sun tanning often. I'm not trying to offend the people in America, but it is true that not many of us are aware of the sun's negative effects. In Asia, they shield and protect themselves from the sun by using hats, umbrellas, and most importantly, sunscreen! Everyone is constantly exposed to the sun, and most people don't care enough to apply sunscreen. I used to be one of those people. Don't make the same mistake that I did! I really do believe that I get acne scars so easily because of the long-term damage that the sun has caused. The sun makes the skin lose its elasticity by inhibiting its collagen production.

There are many reasons as to why I never wore sunscreen. I already put a lot of things on my face: toner, moisturizer, and foundation. I did not want to add to the pile. I was also unaware of the effects of the sun on the skin and I honestly don't really like the smell of the zinc in sunscreen.

When I finally decided to start wearing sunscreen, I immediately broke out on my face. I think the sunscreen that I was using at the time was too heavy for my face to handle. I used an American brand sports sunscreen with SPF 50. That was not a pleasant experience for me at all. I switched to Asian sunscreens, which are a lot lighter and more smoothly applied onto the skin. I really recommend Shiseido products. They work really well for me; they don't clog my pores or break me out.

Please listen to me guys! I can't stress the importance of sunscreen enough!
