We all know that exfoliation is good for your skin, but sometimes store-bought products can contain harsh chemicals that can irritate your skin even more! In the world of DIYs, there are so many different recipes for natural scrubs. I have listed some of my favorite scrubs that are super easy to make!
- Coffee Scrub
This first scrub is my absolute favorite one, and it only requires two ingredients… coffee grounds and coconut oil! The coffee grounds have caffeine that helps boost tired looking skin while also reducing the look of pores or wrinkles. I like to take coffee grounds from my morning brew and mix it with coconut oil in a small bowl. You can also use fresh grounds or add essential oils! In order to keep the scrub as fresh as possible, I only make a small batch enough for one use.
- Peppermint Scrub
This invigorating scrub is perfect for soothing your tired sore muscles. The peppermint oil penetrates deep into your skin in order to relax your whole body. Plus, it smells amazing! All you need is sugar, almond (or any carrier oil) and peppermint essential oils. I like to mix about two cups of the sugar with the oils in a mason jar and store it in the fridge in between uses!
- Sugar Cookie Scrub
This scrub brings us your inner sweet tooth without having the all bad consequences! It combines not only one, but two types of sugar and smells like a delicious sugar cookie. This scrub calls for a cup each of brown sugar and white sugar in a jar or bowl. Then I add in a carrier oil, I prefer coconut or almond, and some drops of vanilla essential oil. I like to use this scrub in the winter to remove the dry flaky skin because it is extra exfoliating!
- Sea Salt Scrub
This sea salt scrub is perfect for acne prone skin! It has vodka and lime juice that help clean out your pores while the salt removes dead skin cells. In a jar, I add two cups of sea salt with avocado oil (any carrier oil will work) and then a couple of splashes of vodka and lime juice! Make sure to store this scrub in the fridge so it doesn’t go bad between uses.
- Oatmeal Honey Scrub
This is the scrub for those that have sensitive skin but still need exfoliation. The oats and lavender oil have a calming effect on the red irritated skin while also scrubbing away dead skin cells. In a jar, I add a cup of dry oats with some honey and carrier oil. This scrub is even safe enough for eczema flare-ups!
All these scrubs simple enough to make on your own and contain only natural and safe ingredients. Remember, that if you are making enough for more than one use to store in either the refrigerator or a dark dry place since the scrubs contain no preservatives. These scrubs also make perfect gifts for you friends and loved ones!
