What we put in our mouth is equally as important to what we apply in our face to treat acne. Here are some tips to treat acne from within! 

  • Nettles: Tea or soup containing nettles can help improve acne because they are exceedingly detoxifying since they have great levels of antioxidants. Antioxidants protect the body and can fight the bacteria within you.
  • Strawberries: Strawberries also contain high levels of antioxidants, which can reduce free radicals in your body, fighting bacteria. Strawberries have large amounts of vitamin C that can help heal active acne and old acne scars. Additionally, they are healthy for the human body.
  • Watermelon: Watermelon contains great amounts of vitamin C and nitric oxide that can help clear acne. Watermelon mostly heals old pimples and prevents breakouts because it can reduce stress hormones.
  • Peppermint: Peppermint is known for relieving stress and can treat headaches. It is helpful in clearing the skin and leaves a tingling feeling in the mouth.
  • Tomatoes: Tomatoes contain vitamin C as well. They aid collagen production so they can maintain firmer skin and help fade acne scars since they repair the damaged skin. Tomatoes help nourish the skin, shrink pores and moisturize your skin.
  • Water: Drinking water is the best way to clear your skin. By drinking water, you flush all the toxic chemicals and bacteria in your body out and it replenishes the cells of built up waste. You should drink at least eight bottles of water every day to keep your body healthy and hydrated.
  • Avocado: Avocados contain vitamin E that can improve the skins vitality, vitamin C which is known for improving the production of collagen, and vitamin B which can prevent future breakouts. Avocado oil helps remove the dead skin cells and oil under the skin, unclogging the pores.
  • Broccoli: Broccoli is one of the best foods to eat that can help clear the skin. It contains vitamins A, B, C, E, and K. These antioxidants help fight damaged skin, which will fade acne scars and make the skin more smooth and soothing.
  • Fish: Fish is a source of fatty acids similar to omega-3. These acids help minimize inflammation in our bodies that can trigger the cells to clog up the pores forming acne. Eating certain fish such as salmon and sardines can fight blemishes.
  • Brown Rice: Brown rice is a source of vitamin B and contains several antioxidants. It can fight against the stress in the body to prevent future breakouts and control hormone levels.
  • Cabbage: Cabbages are a great source of sulfur that helps dry up your oily skin. Sulfur is necessary for the production of keratin which can improve your skin. Eating cabbage can clear and flush out toxic chemicals and bacteria in your body. Since cabbage contains vitamin C, it can control oil production and help fade acne scars and hyperpigmentation.
