Drinking Lemon Water And Acne

Drinking Lemon Water And Acne

By: Olivia

Since I have been drinking lemon water for my acne,  I have noticed a massive improvement in my skin. I have been drinking hot lemon water every morning for just under a month now and it has honestly done wonders for my skin!

I started drinking lemon water because I suffer from really bad acne around my chest, forehead, back, and arms it really has been getting me down, but a simple change in your diet can do wonders.

In the past, conventional medicine denied that diet had an affect on acne, but more and more practitioners are starting to change that mindset, as more data and studies on diet and its link to acne are being released.

Does Lemon Water Help With Acne?

Inflammation is a main factor on the severity of acne.  It’s inflammation that can increase the likelihood of pores getting clogged with sebum. Drinking lemon water may help reduce acne because it contains antioxidant Vitamin C which fights against inflammation.

Lemon water could help with acne because it contains vitamin C. Vitamin C rejuvenates skin and heals the body. Also, it helps the body produce collagen, essential in smoothing out lines in the face and for healing wounds and acne scars.

Vitamin C also relates to our adrenal glands function so your body is able to respond to stress better.  There's definitely a relation between drinking lemon water and acne. I recommend to really give it a go, what’s there to lose?

How To Use Lemon Water For Acne

It’s easy to add into your daily routine and encourages you to get your daily water intake. Replace your morning cup of coffee with lemon water. It can boost energy levels without having the caffeine crash.

1. Mix half a lemon with a glass of water. Try to drink it half an hour before breakfast; the lemon juice in your belly will help your body absorb your breakfast nutrients better.

The lemon water can be taken warm or cold.

2. It’s also recommended to drink lemon water through a straw to reduce the contact it has with your teeth.  This is because lemon water is acidic which can wear off the enamel in teeth.

This is how it works: our bodies get energy from the molecules and atoms in foods. When negatively charged ions, (what is found in lemons), enter the digestive tract, it increases energy levels naturally. Just the smell of a lemon has been reported to reduce stress levels and improve your mood. Lemons were used mainly just as decorative plants until about the 10th century. They were brought to Europe in the 11th century by the Crusades, and they made their first appearance in the New World in the late 1400s.

You get the benefits of lemon water whenever you drink it, but sipping on it in the morning will kickstart your day.  Especially for those who don’t like the taste of plain water, adding a small squirt of lemon may make it more palatable for you to encourage hydration while getting some vitamins and antioxidants from the lemon juice.

Well, there you have it. Go ahead and get into the habit of drinking lemon water and let me know below if you noticed a change in your acne after a few weeks!
