My Acne Skin Care That Worked

I won’t lie to you: my battle with acne has been going on for years and nothing magical happened to help me get rid of it for good. I know how frustrating it is to read all those stories on Internet of people changing one little detail in their life and all is good all of a sudden; I have been the girl trying all possible products at the drugstore, spending hundred of dollars on acne products and acne skin care with eyes brightened by hope. I tried tons of stuff, both topically and internally, to help my skin.

Although nothing magical happened, I discovered little things I was in power to change in my daily life that helped drastically my skin and put me on the path of a healthy lifestyle.

Stop consuming dairy

The major turning point for me in order to heal my acne was cutting dairy of my diet. I had swollen, painful, bright red pimples that made me feel disfigured. I was not recognizing myself in the mirror. When I cut dairy the pain and the swelling went away. Of course, I still had pimples but I was able to look at myself in the mirror. That was something quite new!

Calm down

For me, the biggest trigger of acne breakouts is stress. I can feel a direct connection between my periods of stress (like exams, fights with loved ones, money problems, or issues I just invented in my head…) and horrible breakouts. Keeping stress at a lower level and committing to do so is an essential feature of an acne-free skin. For me, the best was doing a small yoga routine (it can be as short as 10 minutes) both morning and evening and trying to stick to it every single day. This way, you are sure to unplug your busy mind for at least 10 to 20 minutes a day. This is not that much, but it goes a long way.

Exercising, in general, has been proved to lower stress levels down. Plan ahead a workout, a small run in the neighborhood, a short walk around the block or find yourself something good on Youtube to move your butt!

Sweat it out

Exercising has also the benefit to make you sweat (i.e. toxins out and cleaning the pores). Of course no makeup should be applied before taking a sweat, otherwise, the pores would be blocked and cannot deliver out the bad stuff. You can add some sweating beside cardio work in your everyday life by adding a steam bath once a week to your beauty regimen. Bonus: throw in a couple of essential oil drops and calming herbs or a complete sensorial experience!

Hoping those little easy acne skin care tips can follow you on the path of acne-free life!
