Body acne sucks. I’ve struggled with bacne, short for back acne, for years now. I’ve developed it even before I ever broke out on my face. Here are some reasons why you may be getting those annoying body pimples and tips on how to prevent it!
Have you ever noticed breakouts near the lines of where your bra straps often lie? The rubbing from bra straps can cause “friction acne.” The sweat trapped in the area can clog pores, which leads to breakouts. Always take a shower after working out and switch your bra out often. It will save your back!
Your skin may actually be sensitive to the fabric softener that you use in your wash. Although it may seem luxurious, your skin may not think the same way. Try to purchase organic/ pure softeners, or try skipping it the next few laundry days to see if it makes a difference.
Do you often spray perfume directly on your chest or neck? That could be the reason you have breakouts in those areas. Perfume is made up of many different pore-clogging oils that can inflame the skin.
You may be allergic to some ingredients in your body products, whether that is your wash or lotion. Here are some ingredients to be wary of: isopropyl palmitate, isopropyl myristate, butyl stearate, isopropyl isostearate, decyl oleate, isostearyl neopentanoate, isocetyl stearate, myristle myristate, cocoa butter, acetylated lanolin, and D & C red dyes. Whew, that was a mouthful.
Not thoroughly rinsing your back after using your conditioner could be a major culprit for body acne. Conditioner is often filled with petroleum by products that can clog pores if left on the skin. Take the extra time to let the water run down your back and remove as much residual product as possible. Also, it isn’t necessary to use conditioner every time you shower. Give your hair a break, and your skin too.
I hope that these quick little tips will help you to further prevent your body acne. Also, investing in a back acne product may help. My personal favorite is Murad’s Back Acne Spray. A spray!!! How great is that? It rotates 360 degrees, so spraying it is easy, and the product is extremely effective. I highly recommend.
