Everyone has different skin type and no matter what kind of skin you have, it is important to embrace your skin qualities with the products you use. You should always feel confident in your own skin. You can definitely do that by starting off with acknowledging the type of skin you have.
When I first started off using face products, it was around the time I hit puberty. I started to have my first breakouts and I was using all kinds of face products to try and get rid of my acne. But then I realized that the products I was using were making my skin drier. I used to use whatever face wash my mom would buy and it was making my skin extremely dry because I and my mom have totally different skin types. My mom has very oily skin so she would buy products that were for oily skin. My skin, on the other hand, is more on the dry side. I started to buy my own facial products that go along with my skin type and started seeing a huge difference in my skin and it makes me feel a whole lot more confident about my skin. If you have dry skin like me here are some tips to properly care for your skin.
If you're like me and love extremely hot showers but have dry skin, try to take warm showers rather than very hot showers. It took me awhile to get used to taking warm showers, but it's definitely with it because very hot water makes your skin very dry.
When drying your face try to use a very soft face cloth or even use paper towels by patting it on your face.
Use moisturizer or skin oil immediately after a shower.
When buying skin products look for ones containing all natural ingredients such as olive oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, Shea butter and other ingredients that help for dry skin are lactic acid, urea, hyaluronic acid, Dimethicone, glycerin, lanolin, mineral oil, and petrolatum. Avoid using products that contain alcohol, fragrances or synthetic colors because they irritate skin.
If your skin is dry chances are your lips tend to get dry too because mine do. Always carry around some chap stick!
Dry skin can also be caused by dry air. The best way to keep moisture in the air is by getting a humidifier. Trust me, it will do wonders to your skin.
No matter what kind of skin you have it is important to find a product that works for you because everyone is different. There are many ways to find out what your skin type is, you can ask your dermatologist or even go online and start doing some research like I did.
