- Increase water intake- I thought I’d start with the most common one. DRINK MORE WATER. I can’t stress this enough. Adequate water intake is important to improve kidney function and release built up toxins in your body. When you are not adequately hydrated your body tries to expel those toxins that your kidneys and liver normally do, through your skin and sebaceous glands which lead to clogged pores. When I first started increasing my water intake I noticed my skin looking better within a week, not even joking. It happened so fast I didn’t think it could be true. But it was. I notice my skin looking more dull and dehydrated when I slip up every once in awhile. Keep up with those glasses of water!
- Change your pillowcases- I’m a firm believer of those nights you come home and want to just run directly to your room and perform a score 10 dive into your bed to get some much needed sleep. The placement of your face when you sleep is more important than you think! I love to sleep on my face, only my right side to be exact and surprise surprise, that is the cheek of my face that decides to break out the most. Pillows can house dirt and oils like none other and like anything else, it can transfer those dirt and oils to your beautiful clean skin, leading to acne. Sleeping on your face is also a very quick way to speed up the wrinkle process, so do yourself a favour and wash your pillowcases and try and sleep on your back as much as possible!
- Drink spearmint tea twice a day- If you are someone who suffers from hormonal acne like myself, spearmint tea will be your best friend. The tea not only helped keep me awake during the day, and helped me sleep when sipped before bed, but it actually works in helping clear up your skin. This is all thanks to spearmint being an anti androgen and has been proven to decrease androgens and male hormones in the body.
