When trying to gain confidence, great makeup can make the difference. Eye makeup can be simple or extravagant and there are so many techniques and different colors to try. When you learn how to do it right, your confidence can skyrocket. Here is how I do my makeup and some tips to help you.
Eyeliner. This is the first thing I do before anything else. The technique I like to use is tight-lining. Tight-lining is lining the inner lids, or waterline of your eyes, the lids below the eyelashes. It gives the appearance of fuller eyelashes and looks cleaner than upper-lining. This may be difficult for beginners, but it’s quite easy to get used to.
To begin, pull up your lid by your eyelashes and take a Q-tip and wipe off the moistness from your lid. Eyeliner won’t go on easily if your lid is wet. Then pick your favorite eyeliner pencil. My favorite is Almay eyeliner. Liquid eyeliner won’t work for this because it will run into your eye. Lift up your eyelid again and run the liner gently across the lid. Your eye may reflex, but keep trying. After you’re finished, clean up any liner you may have gotten on the lid. If you want a thicker look, line the top with pencil or liquid liner.
Eyeshadow. When choosing your colors, it’s best to find light, medium, and dark colors that correlate with each other. My favorite palette is NYC Individual Eyes Eyeshadow Midtown Mauve. It comes with four colors that go great together, a primer, and an illuminator.
After you prime your whole eyelid and crease, you can start with the lightest color. With a tapered blending eye brush, swirl the brush against a color, then tap the end of the brush to dust off any excess product. Hold the brush loosely for an easy, smooth application, and cover the entire lid with the eyeshadow. Next, with an angled crease brush, take the medium color and light brush the inner crease of your eye. To blend, hold the brush at the end of the shaft and lightly brush down into the first color. The darkest color is for the outer crease. With the same crease brush, lightly blend the dark color, smudging it into the other two colors for a blended look. You don’t want the colors to look separate. For a finished look, use an illuminator or highlighter under the ridge of your brow.
Mascara. This is the last part of your beautiful eye makeup. The best mascara, in my opinion, is the CoverGirl LashBlast Clump Crusher Mascara. You can curl your lashes beforehand if you wish. With the mascara wand, start coating your lashes by swiping up then lightly going back and forth. It will give your lashes volume.
With just eyeliner, eyeshadow, and mascara, you have a finished look. If you want it to last all day, a quick swipe of setting spray will do. Your eyes are now bright, seamless, and beautiful!
