Things You May Be Neglecting

A few months back, I started noticing that although my face was glowing and my skincare routine was effective in keeping my skin mostly clear of acne, other parts of me had been neglected for a very long time. My elbows and knees were ashy, the skin on the heels of my feet was cracked and peeling, and my hair was frizzier than it had ever been. I had become so engrossed in my daily routine to get rid of my acne that I hadn’t bothered to properly moisturize the rest of my body, including my hands, neck, and feet.

But once I actually looked at myself, I thought: what’s the point of having clear skin if it is obvious that the rest of me is not given the same care and effort? I know a lot of other people may have the same problem – your skincare routine may take so much time and priority that you don’t really bother to care for the rest of yourself. But it’s never too late to start now! Set goals for yourself and keep to them!

Some things you can start making a habit of doing include keeping your body lotion in the bathroom and applying it right after you get out of the shower. For your hair, find and use a good shampoo that will clean your scalp well and a conditioner that contains proteins and other nutrients for your hair. Try to use products that are more natural and contain fewer chemicals. Remember to protect your body from the sun, which will help prevent damage to your cells, and protect your hair when you are using heat on it.

While you are doing your skincare, don’t forget to moisturize your neck, where signs of aging appear. I don’t think anyone wants a beautiful face and a turkey neck to match. And before you sleep at night, moisturize your hands and feet and apply a layer of lip balm so your lips are beautiful in the morning.

All of these ideas are helpful for keeping your entire body moisturized, but the best results are only possible if you make healthier choices when it comes to your diet and fitness, your water intake, and your sleeping patterns. Remember that things like thinning hair and soreness can be signs of health problems, so make sure to have regular doctor visits and make changes to your lifestyle if you have to. This will help your body fight diseases and it will be reflected on your outward appearance.
