Launching just this past earth month in 2018, SeedPhytonutrients proves to be a brand on a mission. Seed is dedicated to providing farm fresh results using only the most organic ingredients, in every recycled paper bottle. Heck! Even their slogan reads,
"Farmer fresh. Seed obsessed."
Their purpose lies in what they like to call their four"obsessions". Promoting natural beauty, leadingenvironmental sustainability, supporting independentAmerican organic farmers, and preserving seed diversity. They're paving the way for a moreenvironmentally and sociallyconscious beauty industry, and I've got to say-I AM ABSOLUTELY LOVING IT.
From the organically harvested ingredients and recyclable paper packaging to the heirloom seeds inside of every bottle, SeedPhytonutrients thought about every single aspect when it comes to providing sustainable, eco-conscious beauty products.
If you haven’t guessed already from the name, seeds are a pretty important aspect to the brand. Seeds have been cultivated for thousands of years, but over the last 100 years 94% of seeds have been lost due to over commercialization. Seed saving is extremely important because it creates diversity in plant species that protects them from pests, diseases, and changes in climate (Seedphytonutrients.com).
To combat this loss, Hudson Valley Seed Company andPhytonutrients have partnered together to give you a little surprise inside every bottle- your very ownheirloom seeds! Plant them in your garden or grow them in a windowsill, knowing that with each seed you are helping to create more resilient plants across the entire planet. It’s a fun little surprise in every bottle and always varies between four different seeds; arugula, sweet basil, lemon basil, and thyme.
The seeds you plant also stand as a reminder of the organiccold pressed seeds inside of everyPhytonutrients skincare, haircare, andbody care bottle. Cold pressed seeds are one of the best choices for skin and body because of their highly concentrated antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, carotene, and vitamins. So, in a way, it's like you get to bea part of the cycle- watching exactly where your product comes from. And IMO,there's nothing better.
While Seed does formulate body, hair, and skin care products- for the purpose of this review I amgoing to focus in on their face collection, more specificallythegentle facial cleanser andlight weight facial lotion. These are the two products I've gotten to know pretty well over the last few months and feel I can give a full, proper review.
Formulated with camelina oil, sunflower oil, and seaweed, the gentle facial cleanser is a great everyday cleanser that cleanses deep enough to remove built upmakeup but isn't so harsh that it leaves the skin feeling stripped.Oh, the contrary, if anything your skin feels soft, refreshed, and balanced- ready to take on the day.
Itsformulated withoutsulphates, harsh chemicals, or exfoliants- making it perfect for those who deal with extra sensitive or reactive skin. However, it does containfragrance which I'musuallynot a hugeproponent of since companies can put anything in their product and call it a "fragrance". However, Seed breaks down the fullfragrance list on their website. Thefragrance blend is predominately a blend of essential oils, most of which contain calming,anti-inflammatory, or antibacterial properties, that are highlybeneficial to both sensitive and acne prone skin. The full ingredient list reads:
AnthemisNobilis(Roman Chamomile) Oil,ArtemesiaPallens(Davana) Oil, Citrus Limon(Lemon) Peel Oil, CitrusAurantifolia(Lime) Peel Oil,Copaifera Officinalis(Copaiba) Oil,Cymbopogon Martini(Palma Rosa) Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus(Eucalyptus),FerulaGalbaniflua(Galbanum) Oil, Furaneol, GammaUndecalactone,JuniperusVirginiana(Cedar) Wood Oil, PelargoniumGraveolens(Geranium) Oil, RosaDamascena(Rose) Flower Oil

My skin is highly reactive to just about anything I put on it, but I didn’t find this issue with the gentle facial cleanser. Infact-it's become one of my new favorites and I can definitely see myself repurchasing it in the future! It's a gel base that has a nice light, floral scent and works up into a small sudsy lather. After using it for about a month I've noticed that my skin feels more hydrated, soft, and overall has a nice healthy glow to it!
The SeedPhytonutrients lightweight facial lotion, similar to the gentle facial cleanser, contains a powerhouse of camelina seed oil, sunflower seed oil, coconut, and seaweed. It's perfect for normal to oily skin as a facial moisturizer or a lightweight primer underneath makeup. It's also rich in antioxidants which help protect your skin against free radicals orenvironmental damage. The lotion also contains "fragrance" which again, is a blend of essential oils. The light weight facial lotionfragrance blend reads:
AnthemisNobilis(Roman Chamomile) Oil,ArtemesiaPallens(Davana) Oil, Citrus Limon(Lemon) Peel Oil, CitrusAurantifolia(Lime) Peel Oil,Copaifera Officinalis(Copaiba) Oil,Cymbopogon Martini(Palma Rosa) Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus(Eucalyptus),FerulaGalbaniflua(Galbanum) Oil, Furaneol, GammaUndecalactone,JuniperusVirginiana(Cedar) Wood Oil, PelargoniumGraveolens(Geranium) Oil, RosaDamascena(Rose) Flower Oil
This hydrating lotion has a lightweight,non-greasy texture and feel that absorbs into the skin fairly quickly. It doesn't siton top of the skins surface, but ratherinstantaneously hydrates and soaks into the skin- almost making you feel like you have nothing on atall. Some oils, creams, or heavy moisturizers can get oily throughout the day, clogging your pores and making your skin woes worse- but I didn't find that issue with this lotion at all! With continued use, my skin felt more hydrated day after day.
