Using a Cleansing Wash

Everybody knows that the first step to having clean beautiful face is to, you know, actually clean your face with an effective cleansing wash. What many people don’t know is how to properly do this.

Firstly, NEVER sleep with your makeup still on your face. It may seem like a harmless act, but sleeping in your makeup will clog your pores up so terribly that you will work day and night to undo the mess. Okay maybe that’s an exaggeration, but it will definitely mess up your skin. No matter how tired I am at night, I will drag myself to the sink and cleanse my face. Even on days that I come stumbling drunk in the night, I will use a makeup-removing cleansing wipe at the very least.

If you do wear makeup, it’s important to double cleanse. Double cleansing is when you cleanse not only once, but twice! Wow, who would’ve guessed, right? If you only cleanse once when wearing makeup, you’re only taking off the top layer, which is mostly makeup. Not much gets into your skin, where the dirt and gunk all reside. As for myself, I use a cleansing wipe first to take off the top layer of makeup, and then I wash my face with my cleanser at a sink.

A couple days a week, using a clay mask really helps deep clean your face. Not only does using a clay mask tighten and exfoliate your face, it really sucks up all the gross gunk and dirt that has been stuck deep into your skin. Doing this too much will dry out your face, so I suggest only doing this once to two times a week.

Now before you even cleanse your face, you have to know what to cleanse with. Everyone has different skin types. Some of us struggle with acne, some of us have dry skin and others oily skin, and maybe you’re someone that has a combination of both. Some people have perfectly normal skin (how lucky!) Nonetheless, everybody is different. You have to know what specific skin type you are when choosing what you are cleansing with. It’s important to be aware of your skin type and doing a little research on what is good for your own skin type. Experiment a little with some different cleansing products until you find something just right for you. If you use the wrong products for your skin, you might just make your skin worse.

Overly cleansing your face can damage it too, so I recommend only washing it twice a day—once in the morning and once at night. As soon as you find a routine that works for you, stick to it! Don’t try to change things up if things are working for you. When you do try new things, give it time to work. Trying out a new cleanser can take one or two weeks to see the effect it has on your skin, so don’t just from product to product too much.

A cleansing wash is first and foremost the most important step of having a beautiful face. A clean face is a beautiful face
