It takes a lot of trial and error to perfect a skin care routine that’s perfect for your skin, but it’s worth it. A stable routine is significant when trying to cure acne or acne scars, and can be your ticket to clear skin. It’s vital to keep a routine for at least 3 months to see results. It can be a long time, but do what it takes to achieve clear skin. I will be going over what products I am using right now in my routine and how I use them. I have been doing this routine for only about a month and a half now, so I have a long ways to go until real results are provided.
My cleanser at the moment is Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash red reducing cream cleanser. It has 2% salicylic acid, and also ingredients like chamomile and Aloe Vera. I love the way it feels on my skin and it does an okay job of reducing the redness of my pimples. I use this three times a day (Morning, in the shower, and at night). After I splash my face with lukewarm water, I like to massage the cleanser into my face for a minute or two and then leave it on for another 1-2 minutes. This insures that the salicylic acid can get into my pores. I then wash it off gently with slightly colder water than before, then I dab my face dry with a clean towel. So far this has been a respectable cleanser for me, because of the nice feeling it provides and it speeds up the process of a breakout.
After I wash my face, if I have any pimples, I use Clean and Clear persa-gel 10. It has 10% benzoyl peroxide, so to avoid drying out my skin, I make sure to only use it as a spot treatment for zits. I usually use this 2 times a day, or more if I have a breakout. It dries up pimples well and it is very easy to apply. On the other hand, sadly, it comes in small amounts and doesn’t last very long. I do suggest not using it in large amounts while using hydroquinone, as it will temporarily stain your face.
Next, I use C Serum 22. This serum has 22% Vitamin C, and other great components like Vitamin E and hyaluronic acid. It’s mainly for the use of wrinkles, but also corrects damage from free radical agents and assists with correcting skin tone. I use it in hope to correct the red acne scars I have and to brighten my skin. It has shown little improvement so far and is fairly expensive. I use it around 3 times a day, and I am soon running out, so I may begin using Banish Vitamin C serum.
To help improve acne scars, I then use Ambi Fade Cream. This particular cream has 2% hydroquinone, which is a skin bleaching agent. I use it three times a day, and after a month and a half, it has shown little improvement on my scars, but I am giving it time. It is mostly beneficial to hyperpigmentation and dark marks, instead of red ones, nonetheless I am trialing it to see the results on my scars. The consistency of the cream is a tad thick and it has light fragrance to it that may be strong to some people, though it’s botherless to me.
The last step of my routine is my moisturizer. It is Clean and Clean Dual Action moisturizer. It has 0.5% Salicylic acid to help prevent and treat zits. I really enjoy the texture of this moisturizer. It is creamy and goes on the face easily. Although, it may not be heavy duty enough for severely dry skin or patches of dry skin, it is still a decent daily moisturizer for acne prone skin.
About once every 1-2 weeks, I also use a Studio 35 Avocado and Oatmeal Clay Mask. It smells delightful, but can be drying if used too frequently. I like to use it during a breakout because I feel it dries up pimples and calms inflammation.
I am looking forward to continuing my skin routine for at least another two months. Already, my acne has decreased severely and breakouts move along quicker. It is always good to try to skin products and to change up your routine every once in a
