My Favorite Products for Oily, Acne Prone Skin

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser: I have been using this product for about 2 years and it has never disappointed. A mistake that people with oily skin often do is use harsh, exfoliating cleansers too often; this strips the skin of its natural oils and the skin produces extra oil to make up for what was lost. This cleanser is perfect for my skin because it is gentle and leaves my skin feeling soft and refreshed, and never overly dry. If you have oily skin, I highly recommend this product. It is also very affordable, and available at most drugstores.

Avalon Organics Intense Defense Facial Serum: I use this serum to improve my overall complexion and fade acne scars. I started to notice a difference after about 2 weeks; this serum is quick to work and has excellent results. The serum targets problem areas including acne scars, wrinkles, fine lines, and sun spots. It has Vitamin C, a powerful vitamin for skin to increase overall complexion and fade imperfections. The serum itself is a whitish color and smells strongly of citrus. Personally I find it to be a very appealing smell and it helps me to wake up in the morning. The serum is vegan and has no GMOs, and is only made with organic ingredients. The only drawback to this product is that is is slightly expensive; I paid $18 for a 1 oz. bottle. However, for the effectiveness of this product, it is worth it if you are willing and able to make the investment.

Alba Botanica Anti-Oil Weightless Moisture Lotion: This product has always worked as a great moisturizer for me after I have applied the facial serum. It is very light yet effective; unlike any other moisturizer I have used. It has a very pleasant scent and goes on smoothly, and absorbs almost immediately. It is 100% natural and vegetarian; a bonus for such a good product. Once applied, my skin has a smooth, matte finish and surprisingly my face does not get oily as fast as normal. This product is also affordable; I paid $7 for a 1.7 oz. bottle.

Botanics Ionic Clay Mask: This clay mask does an excellent job of clearing impurities and removing shine; it contains willowbark and oceanic minerals that help to draw out impurities and leave skin feeling soft and refreshed. It comes in a small bottle (3.5 oz) and is squeezable, which is a bonus. It is very easily to apply and surprisingly thin. The smell is hard to describe and may be unpleasant to some people, but it is not strong and does not bother me. I think that this mask is well worth the price; $8 for the 3.5 oz. bottle. I especially love this mask because once it dries, you are able to see your individual pores more clearly because the mask enters the pores and cleanses them with the willowbark that contains salicylic acid for the prevention of breakouts.
