Adaptogenic Skincare: A Natural Solution for Stressed out Skin

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that two of my favorite things right now are good skincare and strong adaptogens. But what happens when you combine the two? That’s what skincare companies have recently begun experimenting with. And the results, well they’re pretty amazing.

Over the past year, adaptogens have been all the rage in the wellness community. If you’re new to this term and sitting there thinking “what the heck is an adaptogen?” before you hit the search bar on your browser, let me explain. Adaptogens are a form of herbal Chinese medicine that help your body adapt to all kinds of stressors; physical, biological, and chemical. Adaptogens help your body return to a natural state of homeostasis, bringing us back to a state of balance.

They’re known for helping to relieve symptoms of anxiety, stress, balance hormones, improve sleep quality, endurance, and boost immune function- and c’mon, who doesn’t want all of that? Some of the most popular (and powerful) adaptogens you’ve probably heard of are ashwagandha, reishi, cordyceps, and rhodiola. And now, these same adaptogens are being placed into skincare to help combat environmental stressors, provide anti-aging benefits, and possibly ward off acne.

The Newest Adaptogen-Infused Skincare On The Market

Some of the first companies to come onto the scene with adaptogenic skincare happen to be none other than the trendy clean beauty brand, Youth to The People and known wellness powerhouse, Moon Juice.

Youth To The People Deep Moisture Cream

A new brand that emerged onto the scene just a few years ago while natural beauty began to make waves, Youth to the People, has quickly jumped on the adaptogen infused skincare train. Being a brand that prides themselves on being “clean” and using only the freshest of plant based ingredients, it’s no surprise to hear that they’ve begun introducing adaptogens into their brand. One of the newest products being their Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream ($58).

Formulated with ashwagandha, rhodiola, reishi, and holy basil, this cream contains a powerhouse of active anti-aging ingredients and proves to be a step above the rest. Released just last week, it’s already raked in 50 5-star reviews with no 4, 3,2, or even 1 star reviews, and that my friends- has got to be some sort of record. And from what we’ve seen, it proves to be 100% acne friendly. Infact, there are even some reviewers claiming its helped to clear up their skin! And that’s pretty excitingif you ask me.

Moon Juice Beauty Shroom Collection

Moon Juice, which is known for their powerful adaptogenic blends like beauty dust and sex dust, recently dived headfirst into the world of beauty, releasing three new skincare products termed Beauty Shroom. The Beauty shroom range has three different products which promise to provide anti-aging and skin soothing benefits.

The Beauty Shroom Plumping Jelly Serum($58) works to smooth, fill, lift, and plump by utilizing silver ear, tocos, and reishi for bouncy, wrinkle free skin. Beauty Shroom Exfoliating Acid Potion ($39) is a skin resurfacing toner that uses a blend of AHA and BHA’s along with reishi mushroom to encourage cell turnover and minimize the appearane of pores. And lastly, the Beauty Shroom Vegan Collagen Protection($58) encourages the skin to produce and maintain natural collagen, while fighting fine lines and ptoecting the skin from free radical damage. While the Beauty Shroom Plumping Jelly and Vegan Collagen both became available on June 19th, you’ll have to wait until August to get your hands on the new Beauty Shroom Exfoliating acid potion.

What are your thoughts on the new adaptogen infused skincare trend? I personally think it’s amazing and hope to see more companies follow suit with plant-based healing. Infact, I wouldn’t be surprised if we started to see things like CBD infused skincare start popping up! Leave a comment below and let me know your thoughts!
