Dr. Roebucks to Soothe and Hydrate Sensitive Skin: A Review

Dr. Who? Dr. Roebucks is the name, clean beauty is the game. With so many new clean beauty brands on the market it’s becoming harder and harder to keep up. Seriously, if 2018 is the year of anything, it must be clean beauty- specifically natural, nontoxic skincare. So, when I heard of a brand, that included both science and clean ingredients, my interest was definitely peaked. Insert, Dr. Roebucks. Built on science, clean ingredients, and no fuss- simple routines for our busy lives, Dr. Roebucks proves to be a step above the rest.

Skincare That's Got Family History

Although they began their journey less than a year ago, Dr. Roebucks is based on a family history that’s over 40 years old. Kim and Zoe, the creator of doctor Roebucks, had two doctor parents growing up who created a one of a kind formula that helped all of their skin woes. And interestingly enough, it was by taking ingredients away instead of adding them. Since then, Kim and Zoe have learned, perfected, and tested their parents process to create a range of clean skincare products to honor their parent's legacy- Dr. Roebucks.

Their goal is to use minimum ingredients that provide maximum results, meaning no nasties like parabens, sulfates, or gluten for that oh so coveted #roeglow. What’s better? They’re cruelty free, meaning they don’t test on animals and each ingredient is handpicked. Every vitamin, antioxidant, and active ingredient you read on the label is specially placed there for a specific purpose. Plus, each Roebuck's product is infused with the purest ingredients from their home, Australia.

The Dr. Roebuck's Products

I was sent three products from the Dr.Roebuck’s line, the Danitree AHA Brightening Mask, Bondi Hydrating Mist, and No Worries Hydration face moisturizer in exchange for my honest review. These are my thoughts!

Danitree AHA Brightening Mask $28

I love a brightening mask just as much as the next girl, so I was extremely excited to try this one out!

Packaging:

The container comes in a convenient 50mL travel friendly squeeze tube, allowing you to gently disperse the amount needed. No overmixing or plunging your fingers into a jar, the squeeze tube allows for optimal application and freshness.

Smell:

Due to the natural content of this product, it has a very earthy smell. There aren’t any added fruity or floral scents, making it perfect for sensitive skin. The smell isn’t very off-putting, in fact I would describe it as neutral.

Ingredients (provided by Sephora.com):

The Aha Brightening Mask uses 4 main ingredients, Caviar Lime, Kakadu Plum, Kaolin Clay, and Sunflower Oil.

-Caviar Lime: Originating in Australia, this exfoliating extract is rich in AHA to provide gentle exfoliation for a smoother, brighter, and more even complexion.

-Kakadu Plum: Helps reduce the appearance of blemishes, age spots, and hyper pigmentation, as well as improves skin texture and protect against UV related damage; improves radiance and boosts skin luminosity.

-Kaolin Clay: Helps to cleanse and exfoliate debris and skin cells on the surface of the skin.

-Sunflower Oil: Found to be effective against acne, eczema, inflammation, general redness, and irritation of the skin.

Results:

The mask glides on smooth, calming, and buttery. Providing a natural exfoliation without the need of any harsh scrubby beads or pieces. It doesn’t tingle or leave your skin feeling raw like most exfoliants, in fact my skin was much calmer after and redness was calmed. It does a great job exfoliating and hydrating, leaving your skin feeling soft and clean. Even those with sensitive skin should be able to use this mask twice a week without any problems.

No Worries Hydrating Face Moisturizer $45

I haven’t exactly found my holy grail moisturizer yet, so I'm always open to trying new ones out in hopes of spotting that diamond in the rough. Luckily this moisturizer has ended up being one of my top 5 favs!

Packaging:

The No Worries Hydrating Face Moisturizer comes in a convenient easy to use 50mL pump, keeping the product inside as fresh as possible. All Dr. Roebucks packaging is simple, white bottles, black writing, and gold name labels; making for a sophisticated looking moisturizer that sits perfectly on your vanity.

Smell:

Like the brightening mask, the smell of the moisturizer is virtually non-existent. This is great news for those who have a sensitive nose or easily irritated skin. There is the faintest hint of macadamia, but it’s not too strong and you definitely have to really be searching for it to clearly smell it.

Main Ingredients (provided by Sephora.com):

-Hyaluronic Acid: Smooths and visibly plumps skin, helping retain moisture and decrease appearance of fine lines.

-Macadamia Oil: Helps restore the skin's barrier function and reduce water loss.

-Rosehip Oil: Combats free radical damage.

-Vitamin E: Helps reduce free radical damage.

Results:

My favorite part about this moisturizer is that it quickly sinks in without leaving a greasy or heavy residue on your skin. Plus, it doesn’t cause breakouts which is a huuuuge plus! After the first week I noticed an immediate difference in my fine lines and the overall texture of my skin. It was no longer rough, but instead felt smooth and hydrated. It’s like a drink of water for your skin! This is a great everyday no-nonsense moisturizer that is perfect for anyone that has normal, dry, or even oily skin.

Bondi Hydrating Mist $25

With the summer months in full swing, my misting game has been on fleek (Is that even still a thing?). Whether I'm just spritzing myself with water to cool down, or reaching for the heavenly Mario Badescu lavender spray, I'mgoing to be reaching for something to cool me down. This mist is a step above the rest, and it doesn’t disappoint.

The packaging:

This hydrating mist comes in a whooping 3.38 floz. spray bottle, a generous size considering the small $25 price tag. The plastic spritz bottle makes it easy to take it anywhere with you- work, school, or even to the pool, without worrying about a pesky, inconvenient glass bottle.

Smell:

The smell is absolutely heavenly! It provides a relaxing scent of aloe, cucumber, and Kakadu plum. It has an almost beachy like scent, with natural aromas that aren’t too overpowering.

Ingredients (Provided by Sephora.com):

-Cucumber Extract: A natural astringent to cool, soothe, and tighten skin.

-Kakadu Plum Extract: A vitamin C-packed super fruit that is 50 times more potent than an Orange.

-Aloe Vera, Vitamins C and E, and Beta Carotene: Work together to firm and hydrate skin.

-Vitamin B3: Helps reduce visible wrinkles, reduce uneven skin tone, combat acne, and reduce hyperpigmentation.

Results:

I will definitely be repurchasing this mist in the future! It’s one of those things that you didn’t know you needed until trying, and trust me- you need this! The smell is so intoxicating that I find myself reaching for it to spritz my skin in the morning, refresh my makeup during the day, and even as a hair mist to give my mane a little volume!
