Product Review: Banish’s Vitamin C Serum

Product Review: Banish’s Vitamin C Serum

by: Arlene

Disclaimer: I have in no way been asked to write this review by the folks at Banish. I received it as a gift this past Christmas, and I simply love it.

I started having acne in my early twenties

A little background on my skin: I started having acne in my early twenties, almost immediately after I graduated from college. At first, I had deep cystic acne that was painful to touch. While I still get that kind of acne every now and then, what I am mostly getting nowadays are whiteheads and very congested-looking skin.

When I received the  Banish Oil for Christmas (thanks, sister!) I was a bit freaked out by it. Serums, in general, scared the heck out of me. Would the oils clog my pores even more? Will I be doing a ton of damage? Is it worth it? My sister, who admittedly doesn’t have too bad of skin, told me to try it — I would be pleasantly surprised, she said. I’m so happy I did!

I’m about halfway through my bottle, and I feel like my breakouts have lasted way less time taking the stage on my face. Usually, they begin to heal over the course of a day or two, which is a huge improvement. It also makes my skin feel a lot smoother and softer. What I'm most impressed about is the fact that it doesn’t make me break out. That’s a huge win for someone with as sensitive skin as mine.

I know how hard it is for people like me with sensitive skin to find a product that would actually work and won’t cause any reaction at the same time so I really felt compelled to write this review and share my experience with everyone.

And, for a serum, it doesn’t feel greasy at all. I like to mix mine with my lotion. The combination is a dream concoction for my face! What I really loved about this product is its ingredients. As I’ve mentioned earlier, I have sensitive skin so I’m always extremely careful with what products I apply on my skin. I veer away from products that contain harmful ingredients that may cause skin irritation and I gravitate towards products that are more natural and organic.

I went out of town not too long ago and I forgot to pack my  Banish Oil in my bag. When it came time for me to wash my face at night, I was so bummed. I woke up the next morning and my face just felt drier and less youthful. For a while, I forgot that I had left the serum at home, so I couldn’t put my finger on why my skin didn’t feel right. That’s when I remembered and made a big note to myself: never forget it again.

What's In the Banish Oil?

I fell in love with Banish Oil even more because it contains pure and natural ingredients and uses glycerin as a base instead of propylene glycol which is known to have side effects.

With so many choices available in the market right now, it’s becoming harder and harder to decide which products to use for our skin. So I would really suggest that you take the time to read the label and check out the ingredients in your skincare products.

As you already know, Vitamin C is an antioxidant that is great for the skin especially when it is in its purest and most potent form. Banish uses  L-ascorbic acid in Banish Oil which I think is the main reason why it is so effective! I found other brands that use L-ascorbic acid in their serums too but I found that it’s way cheaper to get it from Banish because they sell it for just a fraction of the cost compared to other popular brands. Banish Oil also contains organic Aloe Leaf Juice, Witch Hazel, Ferulic Acid, Tocopherol, Rose Flower Water, Rosehip Oil, and Grapefruit Seed Extract which are all proven to have a great effect on the skin to make it soft, smooth and hydrated!

And unlike other companies that mass-produce their products (which are probably left sitting on the shelves for months), Banish makes the serum fresh daily in small batches to maintain the potency of the ingredients. Here’s a pro tip:  If the serum has changed color from clear to orange, then that means the product is no longer good as it has already oxidized and will no longer be effective.

Do I Recommend Banish Oil?

If you’re looking for a gentle serum for your acne-prone, sensitive skin, I definitely recommend you try this one! You will be amazed at how soft your skin feels after just one use, and won’t regret taking the leap of faith to make this purchase.
