It can be consumed any time of the day and is a great coffee replacement. Drinking green tea has been shown to decrease sebum in the skin, reduce inflammation levels, and even boost the  immune system. If you are suffering from acne, this matcha tea skin clearing benefits probably sounds pretty great.

HOW GREEN TEA HELPS GET RID OF ACNE

It's a delicious herbal tea made from Camellia sinensis leaves that have undergone minimal oxidation during processing. Green tea originated in China, but its production has spread to many countries in Asia. But did you know that green tea may also have the potential to help heal your acne?

Aside from those positive side-effects, green tea has a magical ingredient that battles acne. Well, it is technically not magic but its impact is significant when it comes to fighting acne. EGCG is an antioxidant  polyphenol that is known for its acne-busting ways. Matcha tea for acne has a way of evening out hormone levels, especially androgens which have been known to cause the skin to pump out excess sebum.  Sebum produces too many skin cells in your pores which get stuck together and clog your pores and it ultimately worsens inflammation.

 Anti-Fungal Properties

This incredible matcha tea for acne antioxidant also helps kill Candida.  Candida is an overabundance of yeast in the body. This can cause serious immune issues and also acne. Many people have Candida and simply do not know it. If you have sugar cravings regularly, you may have it. Do not worry though it can be cured with a change in diet.  EGCG messes up Candida‘s ability to create and maintain biofilm. Biofilm allows Candida to sequester itself away from your immune system, so disrupting that biofilm is an important attack vector against systemic Candida infections.

On top of all of these benefits, green tea is a major anti-fungal treatment which of course helps with acne and breakouts. Needless to say, matcha tea is a wonderful and natural skin remedy. Here’s a tip, you can also mix a bit of matcha powder with water and spot treat your acne with the paste! Leave it on the skin for 15 minutes or so and wash it off.

Increases Antioxidant Activity In the Body

Green tea has something called  catechins which have been shown to increase total plasma antioxidant activity in the body.

Severe acne patients have  lower antioxidant levels than mild acne patients and while there isn't necessarily a clear link between antioxidant consumption and antioxidant status in the body, we have seen promising results in  antioxidant supplementation.

We also know that  Malondialdehyde, a marker of oxidative stress (free radical damage, a lack of antioxidant status), also decreases after green tea intake.

Catechins  also act as antioxidants in vitro, meaning they may prevent the oxidation of other antioxidants like vitamin E, also.

 Protective Effect On Skin

One study of a component of green tea significantly improved acne in an 8-week randomized, split-face,  clinical trial, and was well tolerated. In another  study, participants consumed either a beverage with green tea polyphenols providing 1402 mg total catechins/day or a control beverage. An intake of the green tea for 12 weeks increased blood flow and oxygen delivery to the skin. Green tea was shown to protect skin against harmful  UV radiation and helped to improve overall skin quality of women.

Green tea may also improve the skin in other ways, such as by improving  insulin levels and lowering  testosterone.

Needless to say, if you're not drinking green tea for your acne, you should be!
