Using the Banish Kit 101

By Kali Kushner

Imagine this scenario: you’ve just bought the Banish Kit and although you’ve read the instructions at least 5 times, you can’t help but be a little intimidated by the bristles staring back at you. You go back and forth, gaining and losing the courage to use it, with so many questions lingering at the back of your mind and you wonder if you’re ever going to utilize it!

Believe me when I tell you, you’re not alone! I was terrified to use my  Banisher the first time: Was it going to hurt? Would it leave marks? Am I sure this is safe to do at home? Will the results be permanent? Is it sanitary? If you’re experiencing any of these same concerns, don’t worry as this article’s gotcha covered.

WHAT IS THE BANISHER?

The  Banisher is a microneedling tool which works the natural way to fade the appearance of  acne scars. It uses tiny (0.5 mm) Titanium bristles to gently penetrate the skin. These bristles create microchannels that are unseeable to the human eye, allowing for better product absorption and faster scar healing power. With each use, the Banisher will stimulate  collagen production, over time creating new skin tissue and filling in older scars.

KINDS OF BANISHERS

BANISHER ROLLER

The  Banisher Roller has bristles which are made up of Titanium. Titanium is a metal that is bacteria-resistant, and won't cause an allergic reaction. It is longer lasting and bristles are evenly distributed.

FEATURES

The Banisher roller has around 540 bristles.

Bristles length is .5mm

BANISHER STAMP

Stamp-sized to easily maneuver AROUND any active  pimples and hard to reach areas. It can be used to help your skin absorb your serums, creams, and other skincare products way more effectively. You can use it at home too if you want to save yourself a trip to the  dermatologist's office.

FEATURES

The Banisher stamp has around 32 bristles

Bristles length is.5mm

Both the Banish roller and the Banish stamp are equally effective, it just depends on whether you have larger or smaller areas to improve on.

BANISHER 2.0

The Banisher 2.0 is not an alternative to the Banisher roller and Banisher stamp but rather an additional tool. Banish is innovating the skin care tools according to the needs of their customers. There is less tendency for tramtrack scarring to occur with this device.

FEATURES

The Banisher 2.0 has 77 finer and sharper bristles

Bristles length is .5mm while diameter is around .25mm

The Banisher 2.0 is 6.25" tall and has a diameter of 1.8"

Titanium bristles are coated with 24K gold

WHY THE BANISH OIL?

The  Banish Oil, formerly called the Vitamin C Serum, was originally created by Banish founder, Daisy, in her own kitchen. The Banish Oil is armed with Vitamin C, a nutrient that helps your skin to create  collagen and elastin.  Vitamin C is also great at slowing down the body’s  aging process to protect your skin.

The Banish oil also contains  Ferulic acid, a powerful antioxidant that is found in the cell walls of fruits like apples and oranges, it helps to stabilize the Vitamin C allowing for longer shelf life.  Vitamin E is another super strong antioxidant found in everyday food. When Vitamin E is applied topically or taken internally, it helps to effectively reduce acne and acne scars.

HOW TO USE THE BANISH KIT?

It may seem overwhelming but using the Banish Kit is super easy! Just follow these 6 steps:

  • Sanitize
  •

Before you do anything, make sure you sanitize, sanitize, sanitize. Place the Banisher in the cleaning container and allow it to soak in  rubbing alcohol for 15-20 minutes. You want to use any rubbing alcohol that is above a 70% ratio to reach optimal sanitization.

  • Wash up
  •

While the Banisher is prepping, make sure your face is completely clean! Remove all makeup, cleanse, and rinse. You’ll want a completely bare face when using the Banisher so that you aren’t spreading around any  bacteria or germs.

  • Roll it
  •

After both the Banisher and your face are completely cleaned, you can get to work! Remember to air dry first before rolling onto your skin.

To use the Banisher, roll the tool across your face horizontally, vertically and diagonally 4-5 times. It may help to separate your face into four sections, forehead, right cheek, left cheek, and chin and work on one section at a time. You will feel a slight tingling sensation and your face may turn red, don’t worry! This is normal.

  • Stamp it
  •

Sterilize the Banisher with rubbing alcohol. Twist the cap off, pour alcohol up to the fill line, and twist back on. Let the bristles touch the rubbing alcohol for at least 5 minutes. Remove cap and let the Banisher air dry for 2-3 minutes.Press the Banisher 4-5 times on each area. Rotate the Banisher about 90 degrees each time before  you press down.

  • Apply Banish Oil
  •

Once you are completely finished using the Banisher, apply a few drops of the Banish Oil to the skin with clean hands. A little bit goes a long way! You will feel a slight tingly sensation, reminiscent of a sunburn. Again, it’s completely normal and it means that the ingredients are working their magic. After a few minutes, this feeling will go away. Redness in the skin should subside after a few hours, I typically use the Banisher at night before bed and my skin is calm by the time I wake up.

  • Resanitize
  •

You’ve just rolled/stamped bristles all over your skin and you’ll need to re-sanitize. Over time, dead skin cells can collect within the bristles and they become dull with use.

For this reason, it is recommended to replace the Banisher roller and stamp after 4-6 uses while the  Banisher 2.0 is best replaced after 8-10 uses.

Repeat the steps of sanitizing the Banisher. Make sure to let it air dry before storing.

As you can see, the Banish Kit is super simple to use! Still, with every new beauty technique, tool, and product, there can be some hesitance.

Here are some other common questions about the Banish Kit we've answered for you:

     DOES THE BANISHER HURT?

This depends on your pain tolerance. However, most would say that using the Banisher does not hurt, you will feel a sensation but it’s definitely bearable. To make matters easier, you can always numb your face first by rolling ice on it.

    WILL IT LEAVE MARKS?

No! It creates micro channels but you cannot see them with the human eye.

    ARE THE RESULTS PERMANENT?

Yes! With each use, you’ll experience better and better results! It causes stimulation in  collagen production - using your body's own resources to heal from the inside out.

CAN I USE BANISH PRODUCTS WHILE ON ACCUTANE?

Yes and no. It is not recommended to use the Banisher or   Pumpkin Enzyme Masque while on  Accutane because your skin is thinner. However using the  Vitamin C Creme,Vitamin C Beauty Elixir and the  Banish Oil are fine to use. After 5 – 6 months post Accutane, you can begin using the  Banisher.

CAN I USE BANISH PRODUCTS WHILE PREGNANT?

Although Banish products are made from natural ingredients, it is still recommended to check with your doctor if the products are safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding stages.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKES TO SEE RESULTS?

You will see results overnight! As soon as you wake up, you will be able to tell an immediate difference in your skin; it will appear plumper and have a more even skin tone. Every person is different but for me to see noticeable results where I could tell my acne scars were fading, it took about 3 months!
