Skin Care Routine for Acne that Works

By Teja Chavali

Taking care of your skin is so important. It is the first thing that people see when the look at you. A poor looking skin can bring down your self confidence and make you feel very conscious. Here are a few tips on how to take care of your skin.

Do not touch your face: Do you know where your hands have been? We touch so many things around us that our hands could be full of bacteria and dirt. By touching your face a lot we can transfer it onto our face. So always keep your hands clean and away from your face.

Know your skin type: Before you pile up product on your skin, know what type your skin is. Is it oily or dry? Is it sensitive? Or is it just normal. If you have normal skin then a regular skin care routine can do wonders for your skin. If you have dry skin then you need to take special care to keep your skin hydrated at all times. Drink plenty of water and wear a deep moisturiser. If you have oily skin, use a facial foam cleanser to remove the excess oil and only use water based products on your skin. If you have combination skin, exfoliate, cleanse and moisturise. If you have sensitive skin use products that are especially made for sensitive skin or try natural remedies to cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise your skin.

Do not pick your pimples: No matter how bad it gets do not pick your pimples. You may think that it will help in reducing the pimples on your face, but that is simply not true. In fact you will scar your face and make the acne worse.

Clean, Tone & Moisturize: After you determine your skin type and buy products for it, remember three simple rules. Clean-Tone-Moisturize. Simple isn’t it? Clean or exfoliate your face with a cleanser than suits your skin type. After you wash your face with a cleanser and warm water, gently pat it dry. Do not rub your face to dry it. Once your face is dry, take some toner on a cotton ball and dab it all over your face. Once the toner is dry, apply a moisturizer. Massage the moisturizer onto your skin in gentle circular movements till its absorbed.

Face Masks: Using a face mask once a week helps repair the skin and hydrate it. Try using homemade face masks that are low in chemicals. You can try using yogurt as a medium to mix your natural ingredients in as it is a natural moisturizer and it also helps your skin to heal. There are many store bought face masks that are just as good. But remember to read the ingredient list to make sure there are not too many chemicals in them.

Have a routine: I know it’s hard to stick to any kind of routine. But remember, like I said, your face is the first thing people see when they look at you. So make time everyday to pamper your skin. Taking care of it will give you the confidence your need to face the world.

Many a time we feel like we have done so much to help repair our skin, yet do not see the desired results. It is times like these we must understand that nothing changes overnight. It takes time and patience to see results. But do not give up just yet. Keep at it and your skin will thank you for it.
