Indie skincare brands have been my go-to lately. I guess I’m just a bit of a hipster in that way, I want to be the first to try a mask or spot treatment before anyone else. I want to see if it works, and if it does keep it as my little secret or be the first to share it with the world. I’m actually SO excited to be writing this review today, I mean to be honest when products are a flop I’m like alright what can I still say about it that’s a bit positive? But these products, from Purpl Goat are the furthest thing from a dud. They’re 2 legit 2 quit.
about purpl goat
I can across PurpL Goat on Instagram during another one of my 3 am insomnia nights and thought their packaging is so beautiful, mixed with a short list of whole ingredients- I was sold. PurpL Goat is natural, non toxic, artisian skincare that are formulated with your body and soul in mind. The founder and creator, Taiann Eiland, has been working with the skincare industry since she became a licensed esthetician in 2007.
She quickly fell in love with green beauty and began developing her own line. She was driven to create PurpL Goat by her own battles with cystic acne and dermatilomania, a chronic skin picking condition. After countless dollars spent and products tried, she learned that natural skincare and daily self love worked the best for her skin.
the ingredients
Upon reaching out to Tai, she was extremely sweet and caring, helping me to choose exactly which products may work the best for my complicated skin. I wanted something that would help with breakouts, irritation, and also overall oiliness, and boy did she deliver on these. Ultimately we decided on the following three products for my sensitive and acne prone skin:
+Unmask calm: Raw Organic Honey, Vegetable Glycerine, Organic Neem, Ground Cinnamon, Guar Gum, Organic Turmeric, Chamomile essential oil.
+Crystal healing toner: Organic Aloe Juice, Rose Quartz Crystal, Marshmallow Extract, Calendula Extract, Pink Himalayan Salt, Glycerine, Pink Grapefruit Essential Oil.
+Calm complexion serum: Organic Unrefined Jojoba oil, Neem extract, Calendula extract, Turmeric extract, Licorice root extract, Lavender essential oil, Lemon essential oil.
*All products are free from sulphates, detergents, parabens, dye, and perfumes*
the packaging
Like I briefly mentioned earlier, the packaging is stunning. It’s simple in design and also has a luxe feeling with the purple and white marble print. The text is clear and easy to read on each product, with the name of the product in the largest font and it’s intended use directly underneath a bit smaller.
I adore that each product comes in a glass container, wether it’s a bottle or a jar, it adds another level of sophistication that’s often missing from plastic packaged products. It also shows the designer is conscious about the environment and other dangers plastic can hold for our skin (and overall) health. There’s just something special about glass packaging that makes you feel like royalty when applying your nightly facial serum.
the products
I had never tried this brand before and really haven’t heard too much about them so I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. I’m glad I went in with 0 expectations because this is one of the best skincare brands I’ve ever tried. Their ingredients are so pure and natural, you can feel them working deep beneath the surface of your skin to banish any breakouts or fade old acne marks.
Typically I list products in order from my most favorite to the least but honestly they’re all just SO good. I love every single one of these products, and you guys know how picky I am- but truly, honestly, they are all amazing.
+ Calm Complexion Serum 5/5
It’s not too far fetched to claim this is the best serum I’ve used to date for acne. I was experiencing some major breakouts on my chin and around my mouth but after applying the calm complexion serum every night for a week they suddenly all went away. It honestly only took me about 3 days to even see results, this stuff is magic in a bottle. Plus it absorbs quickly, isn’t too sticky or greasy, and has a pleasant smell.
+Crystal Healing Toner 5/5
Amazing. Just amazing. I’ve been working out a lot more again recently and noticed my face gets super irritated, dry, and itchy. I started bringing my crystal healing timer to the gym with me and ohhhh my goshhhhh. It works so well to soothe dryness, balance out the skins pH, and reduce redness. Plus it’s antibacterial, so after I rinse my face after the gym I give myself a good ole spritz of the toner and feel completely refreshed. Of course it can be used anytime but I’ve found for me personally the best time to use it is after a workout. It smells so relaxing and refreshing, I kind of want to bathe in it TBH.
+Unmask Calm 4/5
I’m pretty picky about my masks but this one really does live up to the hype. It smells amazing, is cruelty free, contains all natural ingredients, and it actually works. Is there anything else we could possibly ask for? I used this mask twice all over my face and a several times as a spot treatment, I noticed it’s exfoliating power right away. When removing the mask my skin felt like buttery silk. It reduces redness immediately and is extremely powerful at shrinking active acne.
final thoughts on purpl goat
When I used all three products together I could see a total transformation in my skin. It was smooth, glowing, and had an immediate decrease in overall redness. After three weeks of testing, I can positively say these products actually work to clear blemish prone skin. Quite well I might add. I was experiencing quite a few breakouts when I began using PurpL Goat but after continuous use of the serum, toner, and mask they disappeared in no time. I would highly recommend these products to anyone who has sensitive but acne prone skin. I love the overall aesthetic, the natural ingredients, and the effectiveness. Tai, keep doing what you’re doing (you’re doing great sweetie).
