If you can't guess what this blog was about from the title- I'll give you a hint. It smells like watermelon, makes your skin glow, diminishes scars and hyperpigmentation, treats acne, and hydrates the skin all in one step. Yup, today we're talking about the Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask by Glow Recipe.
If you haven’t seen it on Instagram or YouTube yet, you might just be living under a rock. Seriously, this mask is EVERYWHERE right now. And for good reason. It heals acne, scars, hyperpigmentation, and erases wrinkles practically overnight.
Just so you can get an idea of exactly how coveted this mask is, when it was first released it had an 8,000-person waitlist and- it has continuously sold out since both in stores and online. In fact, the first time it was released, it sold out in under 5 hours.
The Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask has completely taken the internet by storm in just the few short months of its existence. Of course, being one of the most trending products on the market right now, you know that I had to test it out for myself. And oh boy, does it ever live up to the hype, and then some.
The Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask was formulated by Sarah Lee and Christine Chang, two beauty industry experts who wanted to create a product that would combine the best of Korean technology with western beauty driven results.
A hybrid simplified product that would stray away from fussy, lengthy skincare routines but still deliver beautiful results to every skin type time and time again. And thus- the Watermelon Glow Mask was born!
Formulated With (Sephora.com ingredient list):
-Watermelon Extract: Soothes irritated skin, hydrates, and delivers essential vitamins
-Hyaluronic Acid: Hydrates and visibly plumps skin
-AHA: Gently exfoliates and hydrates to reveal smoother skin over time; exfoliates and removes dead surface skin cells to smooth texture and brighten the skin; and helps to refine and exfoliate with the pores to deeply clarify
-Peony Root: Brightens and soothes
Soo.. Is It Worth the Hype?
My first impression was how adorable the watermelon stamped packaging is. From the outside of the ripple textured box to the inside of the container, which is completely wrapped in watermelon print, the design has a quirky-fun aspect that is automatically reminiscent of K-Beauty. The jar itself is see through glass with a slightly dimpled texture, showing off the soft baby pink color of the mask inside. The visibility of the product corresponds with the lid, matching in almost perfect monochromatic harmony.
The text on the front of the jar reads "Glow Recipe, Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask, Glowing Radiance + Softening" in a simple and non-distracting black text. Overall its elegance and charm make this product appear effortlessly sophisticated, something you want to keep on your nightstand or show off on your vanity.
Texture and Scent:
The product itself is nothing short of what you would expect from a hydrating glow mask. It has a gel like gooey texture that quickly cools and melts into the skin once applied. You only need a dime (or two) sized amount to spread a thin, even layer over your entire face. Once fully dried, it doesn’t feel sticky or heavy but rather hydrating with a lightweight touch and feel. Unlike other products, it stays right in place on your face where it belongs without transferring onto your pillow or sheets.
The scent is a little overpowering, almost exactly the same as watermelon Jolly Ranchers you would eat as a kid. I am a huge fan of anything watermelon, scent, flavor, artwork; so, I absolutely love this mask! If you don't like the smell of watermelon or are easily irritated by scents- you may want to steer clear. This mask packs a powerful, silky, watermelon-scented punch!
It WORKS and I am obsessed. After the first use my scars looked softer, hyperpigmentation faded, and acne was much less inflamed and red. Even after a few days of going off my diet, eating pizza, ice cream, and pasta, my skin actually looked better when it would typically freak-out in cystic pustules. Due to the AHA and hyaluronic acid, it's been effective against scars, acne, and hyperpigmentation, but gentle enough to use every night.
The second night my acne was almost completely gone and by the third, my skin looked like it had never seen a blemish in its entire life. I'm not kidding, this stuff is legit and I can't see myself going without it ever again. I'm actually thinking about buying in bulk just in case they ever quit making it. In short, yes you need this mask in your life- like yesterday. This mask is a skincare game changer, consider your never-ending search for a Holy Grail product over.
