I love DIY scrubs! They are easy to make and they feel awesome on my face. Scrubs are used to gently slough off the dead, old skin cells on your face; in other words, exfoliation.
Getting rid of the old skin on your face allows your skin to reemerge with new cells. This brightens your complexion, clears pores, and fades acne marks. I want to share a recipe with you guys. This is the honey scrub! So this scrub is pretty common and simple.
I thought that it would be good to talk about a basic scrub so that if you're new to scrubs, you can learn from it. Honey is soothing and moisturizing, and it contains many antioxidants as well. That is the center ingredient in this facial scrub.
I strongly recommend that you use raw organic honey because it had the most benefits in it and the texture is great for exfoliation. Regular honey is smooth, while raw honey has a gritty texture to it. While both contain benefits, raw honey maximises the scrub's potential. If you can't find raw honey, that's totally fine! Just add sugar instead to get the texture needed for exfoliating.
The next ingredient that I like to add is fresh lemon. Lemons area known to contain many powerful antioxidants. This mainly includes vitamin C, an important substance that stimulates cell regeneration and brightens the skin's complexion. That's all there is to it! Now here is a quick list of guidelines for the measurements.
4 tablespoons of raw honey
Alternative: 2 tablespoons of honey and 2 tablespoons of sugar
About 7-10 drops of lemon (depends on the sensitivity of your skin)
Now mix it all together! Of course, feel free to adjust the amounts as you wish. There's really no need to stick to it. I just provided a basic outline of the recipe. Do whatever works for you! I use this every other day, but I would recommend twice a week for beginners. I use it more frequently because I have discovered that my skin is quite high maintenance, but that isn't the case for everyone. So test it out and adjust accordingly.
Apply the scrub onto your face and use circular movements going inward. Remember to scrub gently! Don't damage your skin by applying too much force and scrubbing too harshly! That would defeat the purpose of the facial scrub so please try to be as gentle as possible. Treat your delicate skin nicely!
