Finding the right product for your face is not an easy task, especially if you live with the fear of breaking out. Sticking with what you know works for you is not always the best thing to do either, your skin might get used to products and they will start losing their effectiveness, so rotating products is always a good option. If you don’t need to find other alternatives and you just need something that might help you fight your breakouts, this post is for you too.

Bioderma Sebium Serum

I love this brand. I’ve tried a lot of their products and most of them have worked for me. Bioderma has a lot of treatment lines, one of them is Sébium, which works for oily and acne prone skin, especially with adult acne. I’ve used this line since I was a teen and it has always worked wonders for me. All of their Sébium products contain Fluidactiv, a branded recipe that helps control and reduces sebum, preventing new breakouts.

Sébium Serum is a serum which promises to correct skin texture and prevent imperfection. It contains 15% glycolic acid, it can sound scary because it can cause irritation, but it contains D-panthenol, an anti-inflammatory component. When I’ve used it I have noticed it helps my face not getting deep breakouts, reducing the oiliness on my face and helps with scarring. If you have breakouts it will dry them and get rid of them faster. I only use this at night, not during summer.

NeoStrata Oily Skin Solution (8 AHAs)

NeoStrata is a brand I recently started using because I wanted to try Resurface High Potency 20 AHA (it has great reviews), however, it’s not available in Mexico, so I asked for free trials (yay) at the pharmacy. So, I bought the Oily Skin Solution with 8 AHAs. It helps remove dead skin and improves collagen production. It is a facial toner that works great. What I noticed instantly is that it makes my skin look brighter. It reduces scarring and acne. I have sensitive skin, I tried using it in the morning as it is advised but it makes my face RED, I’ve also tried to use it more than two times a week and that is too much for my skin, it leaves it tomato red. However, it is a “wow” product. It cleans out my pores, they don’t get clogged and my skin looks visibly smoother. I use it the night after I use Sulphur soap, it keeps my face hydrated and looking bright. As the Sébium Serum, I only use it at night, once a week and not during summer.

Avene Gentle Purifying Scrub

Avene is my favorite brand- I’m sorry Bioderma. It has Thermal Spring water which soothes, softens and calms the skin. This purifying scrub is not abrasive, it exfoliates the skin gently, and helps eliminate dead skin cells and is safe for sensitive skin. I’ve used this product three times a week and it never irritates my face. I saw a lot of reviews and a lot of people don’t like it because they feel it is not really exfoliating their faces, however, it is a soft scrub that cleanses and produces microdermabrasion. Before using AHAs, this was the only thing I used to improve my scarring and it helped a lot, now I use both (not together). Every time I stop applying it at least once a week, I break out a little. It leaves my face baby smooth! I like to apply treatments after I use it because they absorb even better and prevent future breakouts. Don’t rub hard because it can cause irritation if misused. It contains salicylic acid which exfoliates and purifies pores, zinc gluconate which reduces inflammation (zinc has a lot of benefits for the skin!).

Lullage Body Oil Skin Corrector (Bella Aurora)

I discovered this Body Oil trying to find something for my mother that will help her skin get healthier after chemotherapy and radiation practically dehydrated and aged her skin. She also developed some dark spots because of the treatments. We bought it and tried it together, I used it on my legs where I have small stretch marks and on scarring I have on my forehead. I was too scared of using it on my face, however, it didn’t break me out. It helps with scars, stretch marks, and hyperpigmentation. It also hydrates without leaving a greasy effect or shine. We only use it at night after exfoliating even when it says to apply it two times a day. We feel it leaves our skin softer, soothed and looking healthy. My mother’s skin has improved a lot, her face looked saggy and now it looks tighter, hydrated and brighter, she only uses this product with her Aderma moisturizer. Her dark spots are brightening, however, I think it will take time if she only used this product. For me it has helped with scaring a little bit, I use it because it really moisturizes my face and body.
