What better thing is there to do on a hot summer afternoon than to devour a fruit smoothie knowing that not only does it taste heavenly but it is also very healthy for your body? Almost nothing, except maybe making an extra smoothie and splashing it on your face to get extra immediate benefits! The following list will consist of 5 mask recipes that you can make with ingredients that you surely already have in your kitchen.
- Exfoliating & whitening strawberry yogurt mask
Strawberries have long been used in skin masks because their seeds act as mechanical exfoliation removing dead skin and dirt. Other benefits of strawberries include that they are acidic and help fight oily skin while whitening blemishes. Like the strawberries, the yogurt will also help cleanse the skin thanks to the lactic acid that it contains while also lightening the skin. Furthermore, the yogurt leaves your skin feeling moisturized and fresh.
To make this mask, simply puree 2-3 strawberries (without the leaves) and mix in 2 full tablespoons of natural yogurt. Put the mixture on your face for 15 minutes and wash with warm water. Put on your usual moisturizer afterward or leave the skin as is.
- Ultra moisturizing avocado-banana mask
Both avocados and bananas contain vitamin C and vitamin E. These vitamins are antioxidants that slow down the signs of aging and prevent free radical damages to the skin. These two fruits are very moisturizing for the skin. Avocados are particularly high in oleic acid and this helps regenerate damaged skin while maintaining moisture to the top layer of skin.
To make this mask, make a puree of half a banana and half an avocado. Mix it thoroughly to have a consistent mixture and place it generously on your skin. Leave it 15 minutes to 30 minutes before washing your face with only water. If you have too much mixture place the remaining on the ends of your hair as a pre-wash treatment.
- Anti-Acne soothing tomato mask
Known as a vegetable, but technically a fruit, tomatoes are a wonder for acne prone skin. Applying a pureed tomato on your skin will visibly shrink your pores as well as remove dead skin with its seeds. Tomatoes are also used to lighten skin blemishes.
To make this mask you should simply puree a tomato while leaving the seeds for an exfoliating effect and massage it onto the skin. After 20 minutes, wash it off and apply your usual products as well as some SPF because your skin may be sensitive to sunlight.
* This fruit will leave your skin feeling smooth, but for an even more soothing effect add one tablespoon of honey to the mixture.
