Banish's Holy Grail of Skin Care Routines

With so many skincare products out there and new ones popping up every few weeks, you might feel a little overwhelmed on how to incorporate them into your daily routine. Don't worry, here is a complete guide on how and when to use certain skincare products for all different skin types.

Daily Skincare Routine

 STEP 1: Cleanse

Using a gentle cleanser, apply a small amount and massage into face in circular motions.  You may use a cotton ball, pad, or washcloth to help you clean the dirt, oil, and makeup off your face.  If wearing makeup, a second wash may be necessary to get all of the makeup off. We recommend a non foaming or sulfate free cleanser which should not cause dehydrated skin.

How Often: Cleanse twice a day total, once in the morning and night. Use a gentle makeup remover before cleansing or double cleanse if you were wearing makeup.

STEP 2: Apply Facial Oil or Serum

The Banish Oil is great for nourishing skin because it's concentrated with natural ingredients that skin will absorb quickly.  The Banish Oil is great for for scarring, hyperpigmentation, and dark spots, and aloe vera oil for sensitive skin, stretch marks and redness.

The difference with a moisturizer is that moisturizers will contain ingredients that also sit on top a bit more in order to provide a protective layer to prevent your skin from getting dehydrated.  The Banish Oll is moisturizing enough for most people by itself, but if you feel your skin is still dry you can apply another moisturizer on top!

How Often:Apply an oil once per day. You can use up to twice per day.

 STEP 3: Refine Pores

Spray on the elixir after the Banish Oil to quickly add extra hydration and balance the pH of your skin to keep your skin's natural barrier healthy.  Most toners also prevent your skin from getting as oily. You can also use the Pore Smasher to tighten up pores too.

How Often: Daily.

STEP 4: Apply Sunscreen

Sunscreen should be the last step because it acts like a shield for your skin so any products added on top won't be absorbed in your skin.  Sunscreen is important because it protects your skin from damaging uv rays which lead to wrinkles and collagen depletion.  Sun exposure can also cause hyperpigmentation and dark spots to appear darker and harder to fade.

How Often: Use a teaspoon amount of sunscreen for face and massage in 15 minutes before going out into the sun. Also add sunscreen to body too if needed.  Pick a sunscreen with at least SPF 15.

STEP 1: Deep Clean Pores & Cleanse

It's important to take extra steps to nourish and unclog skin especially for people who have acne, blackheads, whiteheads, or closed comedones.  A clay masque or activated charcoal masque really helps deep clean since these ingredients attract dirt, oil, and other impurities to the surface of skin and it all gets washed away when you remove the mask. Keeping your pores clean regularly can also shrink the appearance of pores! Before using a mask, make sure your skin is freshly cleansed first.

How Often: 1-2 times per week

Recommendations: Activated Charcoal and Clay Masque

STEP 2: Exfoliate

Exfoliating is great for eliminating old skin cells, getting rid of blackheads, preventing acne, fading acne scars quicker, and renewing your overall skin so that your skin will be smoother, softer and brighter.  Use a physical exfoliator only if you don't have active breakouts since the abrasive nature may irritate acne.  Exfoliate with a product containing alpha hydroxy acids for skin with active acne for best results. We recommend the Pumpkin Enzyme Masque since it's natural and non abrasive, but it gets the job done! You may want to exfoliate a day or two before or after the Banisher instead of right before using the Banisher if you have sensitive skin.

How Often: 1-2 times a week, up to 3 if needed

STEP 3: Prep Skin With the Pore Smasher

The Pore Smasher can be used to numb the skin before a Banisher session!  You leave it in the freezer for at least 30 minutes and massage it on your skin for a couple minutes.  Since we want to use natural products as often as possible, the pore smasher is the best way to go about it if you are very sensitive to the sensation of the Banisher!

How Often: Daily or before the Banisher.

STEP 4:  Skin & Collagen Repair

Once every 2 weeks, you can use the Banisher on acne scars, wrinkles, stretch marks, or other problem areas to reduce the appearance of them. Apply the Banish Oil or other natural based vitamin c product after you're done with the Banisher session.  The banisher increases the effectiveness of skin care products greatly and it also stimulates your skin to repair itself and really helps minimize the appearance acne scars.

Avoid using the Banisher over active acne since that could spread bacteria and do not use if if you are currently or were recently on Accutane.

How Often: Once every 2 weeks.

STEP 5:  Keep Hydrated

After using the Banisher, Skin may temporarily be a little irritated and you may notice minor flaking as the old layer of skin is shedding off to give way for new skin.  This may cause some dryness, so keep a hydrating vitamin c  mist like the Vitamin C Beauty Elixir which can be used over makeup to keep skin from drying out.

How Often: As Often as Needed
